Survey: 89.8 Percent Of Residents Trust Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai To Lead Central Papua

The East West Research Center (TBRC) released the results of a survey regarding the preference of the people of Central Papua for the four candidates for governor and deputy governor in the 2024 Pilkada. As a result, most residents entrusted the Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai pair to lead Central Papua.

"The Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai pair is trusted to lead Central Papua by 89.8 percent of Central Papuans," said TBRC Executive Director Johanes Romeo in his statement, Monday, November 11.

"Then the Natkime Natuni-Titus Natuni pair with 46.7 percent, the Meki Nawipa-Denas Geley pair with 44.8 percent, and the John Wempi Wetipo-Agustinus Anggaibak pair with 39.7 percent," he continued.

The latest TBRC survey shows that candidate pair number 04, Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai, has the highest electability in the Central Papua Regional Head Election. This pair achieved an electability rate of 64.1 percent.

Followed by candidate pair number 02, Natalis Tabuni-Titus Natkime who occupies the second position with an electability of 12.7 percent. While candidate pair number 03, Meki Nawipa-Denas Geley received 10.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the lowest candidate pair with electability is number 01, John Wempi Wetipo-Agustinus Anggaibak with a score of 7.2 percent and 5.6 percent who did not choose

"The high electability of candidate pairs Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai is closely related to the Candidate Awareness and Image levels as well as public trust in this couple," said Johanes.

Johanes revealed, during the campaign, TBRC noted that the four candidate pairs tended to use two methods of socializing the installation of campaign props in the form of billboards or banners. In addition, go directly to the community, as well as the supporting parties of each pair of candidates disseminate the governor and deputy governor candidates to residents.

Meanwhile, the results of the survey after Campaign activities were around 24.7 percent of voters in the Central Papua Pilkada did not know the four pairs of candidates at all. Then the results of a survey related to Candidate Awareness, namely how well the four candidate pairs are known and by voters, it was found that the level of knowledge (introduction) of voters against the Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai pair reached 84.9 percent.

Then, the Meki Nawipa-Denas Geley pair reached 47.8 percent and the Natkime Natuni-Titus Natkime pair reached 45.1 percent. Furthermore, the John Wempi Wetipo-Agustinus Anggaibak pair reached 44.3 percent

Johanes said the survey also measured the Candidate image, namely the perception or picture that was formed in the minds of the people of Central Papua regarding candidate pairs which includes public opinion and feelings about the quality, reputation, and programs offered during the campaign.

"As a result, the Candidate Image level for the Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai pair reached 88.0 percent. Then the Meki Nawipa-Denas Geley pair reached 44.8 percent, the Natuni-Titus Natkime Natkime Nati-Talis pair reached 43.7 percent, and the John Wempi Wetipo-Agustinus Anggaibak pair 40.1 percent," concluded Johanes.

The TBRC survey was conducted on October 30-8 November 2024 involving 1,550 respondents who have the right to vote, namely at least 17 years old or already married when the survey was conducted.

Data collection techniques are face-to-face interviews of respondents using questionnaires and ballots. The margin of error of +/-2.49 percent at a 95 percent confidence level through the sampling method is multistage random sampling.
