Sunday To Monday Morning, Mount Ibu In West Halmahera Erupted 5 Times

JAKARTA - Mount Ibu erupted five times throughout Sunday night until Monday 11 November. Vomitting volcanic ash in West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku occurred starting at 21.33 WIT with a height of 1 kilometer from the top of the mountain.

"Mother's Gunung erupted on Sunday at 23.28 WIT with a column height of more than 800 meters above the peak. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 28 mm and a duration of 71 seconds," wrote the X account of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), Monday 11 November.

PVMBG recommends that people around Mount Ibu who erupt do not move within a 4 km radius and the sectoral expansion is 5 km to the crater opening in the northern part of the active crater of Mount Ibu.

"If ash rains, people who are active outside the home are advised to wear masks and glasses," said PVMBG.

All parties are asked to maintain the conduciveness of the atmosphere in the community, not spread false narratives (hoaxes), and not be provoked by unclear issues. The public should always follow directions from local governments following the incident of Mount Ibu erupting.

PVMBG noted that Mount Ibu erupted several times on Sunday night, namely:

1. At 21.33 WIT with a column height of 1,000 meters. At 21.41 WIT with a column height of 800 meters3 of ash. At 21.57 WIT with a column height of 500 meters of ash. At 22.58 WIT with a column height of 800 meters of ash. At 23.28 WIT with a column height of 800 meters of ash.
