Coordinating Minister For Food Highlights Farmers' Welfare As Food Heroes

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan expressed the government's commitment to continue to improve the welfare of farmers. According to him, they are national food heroes.

"If all conditions are good, then farmers as well as their welfare will increase," said Zulkifli Hasan in South Lampung, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, November 10.

He said the government would continue to strive to improve the welfare of farmers who are also food heroes, because they contribute to the provision of food and national food security.

"If the agricultural condition starts to improve, the farmer's exchange rate will also increase, that's okay," he said.

He explained that to improve the welfare of government farmers, it will assist in the provision of production supporting facilities such as through the provision of seeds, irrigation, fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and closer capital to farmers.

"If possible, these farmers will develop fruit planting, such as avocado, mangosteen or coffee, pepper, chocolate because the farmer's exchange rate is much higher, it could reach 150," he said.

According to him, by developing fruit crops and plantation crops, farmers will be able to be more prosperous.

"The government will certainly continue to pay attention to farmers as community food supporters and we are committed to that," he added.

The response was conveyed by one of the corn farmers from South Lampung, Widayanto. "This farmer is the buffer of the Indonesian state order, if the buffer is not strong then the state will not be strong. So it is necessary to encourage us to continue to support the country through the provision of food and continue to produce," he said.

He continued, with the welfare of farmers, the productivity and desire of youth to enter the agricultural sector will also increase.
