KPU Considers Voice Letter Regarding Deletion Of Candidates For Regional Heads

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia said that the deletion of pairs of regional head candidates in the 2024 Pilkada still considered the ballots that had been distributed.

"That's also a consideration because the situation is already tight with the D (day of voting) right," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Mochammad Afifuddin quoting Antara.

In addition, he said that his party would consider KPU regulations regarding the deletion of candidate pairs for regional heads.

Therefore, he said that the Indonesian KPU would summon the Banjarbaru KPU, the South Kalimantan KPU, to the Southwest Papua KPU regarding the deletion of 2024 Pilkada participants.

"Later we will explain the official information we get from friends," he said.

Meanwhile, he explained that the deletion of the 2024 Pilkada participants began with consultations between the regional KPU and the RI KPU.

However, he said that not all proposals for deletion were approved or followed up.

"If the facts are corroborated, yes, they can be followed up, or vice versa, then they will not be continued," he explained.

Previously, a number of candidate pairs of regional heads were dropped as participants in the 2024 Pilkada, such as the couple Aditya Mufti Ariffin and Said Abdullah in the Pilkada of Banjarbaru City, as well as the couple Abdul Faris Umlati-Petrus Kasihiw in the Pilkada of Southwest Papua.
