President Prabowo Meets Chairman Of China's National People's Congress Zhao Leji

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto met Chairman of the Standing Committee of the China National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji at the People's Center, Beijing, to discuss efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries.

"This is an honor for me today to be accepted here. As you know, this is my first state visit after being inaugurated as President of the Republic of Indonesia," said President Prabowo Subianto during a bilateral meeting with Zhao Leji as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 9.

The meeting was one of the agendas for President Prabowoke's state visit in addition to meeting with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang.

"I want to thank the Chinese government for sending its vice president as a special government envoy at my inauguration. In fact, before being officially inaugurated as president, after winning the presidential election, your president also invited me. This is a great honor," Prabowo added.

The invitation to him, according to President Prabowo, shows the commitment of the two countries to maintain and improve bilateral relations.

"I will continue to improve cooperation between the two countries and I will also discuss with President Xi Jinping to find a formula on how to increase cooperation between the two countries in the future," said Prabowo.

Meanwhile, Zhao Leji said President Prabowo's visit also gave an important meaning to relations between the two countries.

"To President Prabowo, we congratulate you on your election and on this visit we welcome you very well. This visit made it clear and increased the spirit for the progress of the two countries and strengthened Indonesia-China relations."

"Hopefully President Xi Jinping and Mr President in the future can make progress for both countries," said Zhao Leji.

After the meeting which lasted about 20 minutes, President Prabowo Subianto and his entourage headed to another room to meet PMLi Qiang.
