UN 'Waits For Donald Trump's Return To Power
JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) plans the possibility of Donald Trump's return and cutting US funding and engagement with the world body that is likely to occur during his second term as president.
There were feelings of deja vu' and fear" in the country's 193-member world body, a senior Asian diplomat said, when Republican Trump won the US election.
There is also hope that a transactional government will involve the United Nations in some areas even if they want to disburse some documents. After all, what global stage is bigger and better than the United Nations? " said the diplomat, speaking without naming.
US setbacks at the United Nations could open the door to China, which has built up its influence on global diplomacy.
Trump did not provide much details on foreign policy during his second term of office.
But his supporters say the strength of his personality and the 'peace' approach through force' will help get foreign leaders to live up to their desires.
Trump has pledged to resolve the war in Ukraine and is expected to provide strong support to Israel in its conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza and southern Lebanon.

One of the main concerns at the United Nations is whether the United States will decide to donate less money to the world body and withdraw from key multinational institutions and agreements, including the world's Heath Organization and the Paris climate agreement.
US funding is a major concern. Washington is the biggest contributor to the United Nations and China in second place accounted for 22% of the UN's core budget and 27% of the peacekeeping budget.
A country can be in arrears for up to two years before facing a possible loss of votes in the General Assembly.
