President Zelensky Says He Doesn't Know The Details Of Trump's Plan To End The Russia-Ukraine War
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday he was not yet aware of details of the US-elected president Donald Trump's plans to end the Russia-Ukraine war quickly, confident the end would require a major concession for Kyiv.
The Ukrainian leader told a news conference at a summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, Hungary, he believed Trump wanted to end the war with Russia quickly, but had not yet discussed his plans with him.
"If it's just fast, it means a loss to Ukraine. I don't understand how this happened in any other way. Maybe we don't know anything, haven't seen it yet," he said.
Trump's victory in the US elections this week has increased a sense of great uncertainty for Ukraine's war efforts at a dangerous time, with Moscow forces making their fastest progress in months and North Korean troops deployed in Russia's Kursk region.
President Zelensky was one of the first leaders to congratulate Trump's elected president, who during the campaign period criticized Washington's military and financial support scale for Kyiv, pledging to end the war quickly, without saying how.
The United States has become Kyiv's most important ally in the war. President Zelensky clearly praised Trump's election victory in his statement. He spoke by telephone with Republican politicians on Wednesday night and described the conversation as "very good".

"I'm sure President Trump really wants a quick decision. I want it, that doesn't mean it will happen. And I (talk) here without my permission, I'm just saying that we are where we are," he told reporters.
"We must prepare for every decision. We want a fair end to war. I believe that the end of the war that is near means losses," he said.
