Motta: Juventus Respect Lille's Confidence, But We Are Ready To Rise
JAKARTA - Juventus manager Thiago Motta insists Juventus will seek to get full points against Lille in the Champions League, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Despite being wary of Lille's confidence, Bianconeri hopes to soon rise from defeat against Stuggart two weeks ago in the Champions League.
The Old Lady's manager warned that her squad had no favorites, but she insisted on making a great performance against the Ligue 1 team.
Douglas Luiz returns to the squad after recovering from injury. Hannya Nico Gonzalez, Arkadiusz Milik, and Bremer who are still at the treatment table.
"As usual, we really respect our opponent, Lille. The important thing is to be consistent, perform well, and try to improve our abilities every day, every game," Motta told Sky Sport Italia.
"The game helps build awareness that we must always give something more to compete."
"Lille is in good condition. We enter the field with respect, but also aim to get results. All matches are important. As Juventus, we want to win all the time."
"The most important thing is to keep trying to improve capabilities. Lille is very confident. We want to face them in the best condition. We want to give more than the best," said Motta again.
The Bianconeri looked very bad in their last Champions League match against Stuttgart.
The result marked their only defeat of the season so far in all competitions in 14 matches.
This poor performance came as a surprise after a 3-1 versus PSV Endhoven victory and 3-2 against RB Leipzig.
Motta emphasized that his team is still in a sustainable process to appear stable on the winning path.
"We always learn and develop. We have to go to the field with the determination to put on a great game."
"They are confident, but we are also in good condition," said Motta again.
Meanwhile, Teun Koopmeiners has returned from injury in the last two games of Juventus in Serie A.
Motta admits that he is important to the team. The return of Dutch players plus Douglas Luiz helped raise levels in a week-long training session.
"Against Udinese, I saw the whole team playing well on the pitch. He (Koopmeiners) was an important player for us, like many other players."
"Winning was good, but it's over now. We're moving on this track and aiming to put in a good performance."
"Yes, tomorrow we will lose ours, Bremer and Nico Gonzalez, but all other players are available."
"It's important to increase levels and competitions throughout the week. So, we're all growing and developing together, facing matches in the right way."
"We have to come from the first minute until the last minute tomorrow," said Motta.
Thiago Motta further emphasized that he continued to play with his philosophy despite many conflicts.
"It can be risky, but it can't be. I don't see it that way. Everyone has their own philosophy".
"I believe 200 percent in my philosophy. As long as I am here, decisions will be made based on the current situation," said the Italian coach.
