Panic Sparks, 4 Passengers Of Trigana Air Injured While Rescued From Emergency Window

JAYAPURA - Airline Trigana Air said four passengers on the plane to Wamena were injured while they were trying to save themselves through an emergency window.

"This incident occurred on Tuesday (5/11) at around 11.20 WIT, starting when passengers panicked because there was a spark at the bottom of the plane so they opened an emergency window and tried to save themselves," said PT Trigana Air Papua Manager Area Irwan Rohendi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 5.

Irwan explained that the passenger's action to open the emergency window was carried out before the flight crew gave a signal.

"Maybe because of panic they immediately opened an emergency window to save themselves," said Irwan, adding that the four victims suffered minor injuries.

Trigana Air's Boeing 737-500 aircraft with flight code IL237 to Wamena carried 121 passengers, said Irwan Rochendi.

Public Relations of Sentani Airport, Surya Eka, said that the incident of the plane belonging to Trigana Air caused two other flights to experience delays in departure.

The airlines that experienced delays in departure were Lion JT789 to Manokwari and Susi Air PK-BVA to Wamena.

"Nothing is too late for the operation of the incoming aircraft," said Surya Eka.
