Father In Mataram Police His Son Who Sells Mattresses To Pay Debt

MATARAM - A father in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, reported his biological son with the initials DRA (31) to the police because he was revealed to have sold two mattress units to pay debts at the cooperative.

"Following up on the report of the perpetrator's father, the perpetrator with the initials DRA alias Diky on Tuesday (5/10) morning at around 10:00 WITA, we immediately secured him from his friend's rented house," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, AKP Regi Halili, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 5.

From the results of the examination, Diky admitted that he sold two mattresses at his house in the Tanjung Karang Permai area, Sekarbela District, because they were in debt.

In addition to selling two mattresses, Diky also admitted to selling two gas cylinders and some scrap metal in his house to cover debts in cooperatives.

"From the proceeds of the sale, the perpetrators received a profit of Rp. 1 million. He immediately used the money to pay off the cooperative's debt," he said.

By following up on the report of the perpetrator's biological father, the police have now managed to find two mattresses that were previously sold by the perpetrators.

Even though the evidence has returned, from the results of the case title, the police found two pieces of evidence that corroborated Diky's criminal act.

"From the results of the title, we have now named the perpetrator as a suspect who violated Article 367 of the Criminal Code regarding theft in the family with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison," he said.

The restorative justice in this case can still be done by the police if the completeness requirements for achieving peace between the victim and the perpetrator are met.

"We'll see, if there is a peace agreement, we will process restorative justice," he said.

The police also found Diky's criminal record. In 2023, Diky was sentenced to one year in prison for a robbery case.

"So, Diky, a Jambret recidivist, was arrested by the West Lombok Police, his sentence was one year in prison and early 2024 yesterday he was released from prison," he said.
