Tecno Launches New Technology "Universal Tone" To Detect Accurate Skin Colors
JAKARTA The photography on smartphones continues to grow, but capturing the true skin tone is still a challenge. To overcome this, smartphone manufacturer Tecno introduced a campaign titled #ToneProud which aims to raise awareness of skin color diversity and encourage accurate representation in smartphone photography.
The #ToneProud campaign invites users to accept and be proud of their natural skin tones. The main innovation of Tecno in this campaign is the "Universal Tone" technology, which is built on the unique database of 268 skin tones. This database is claimed to be developed with color experts and can categorize skin tone with scientific precision.
Users can find their skin color code through the 268toneproud.com site which allows for skin color detection with just one click. This technology is designed to make it easier for users to quickly and accurately recognize their skin tone.
Tecno also invited users from various parts of the world to participate in this movement by sharing their photos along with skin color codes on Instagram, using the hashtags #ToneProud, #UniversalTone, and #TECNO.

Fatima Al-Banawi stated in the campaign video, "What Tecto does with the Universal Tone feature is very important because this technology will become the basis for an inclusive society."
By overcoming biases and promoting accurate skin tone representations, the Tecno campaign is expected to empower users to capture the beauty of human diversity in each photo.
