Tips On Keeping Your Mindset Positive And Not Overthinking

JAKARTA - Developing a positive mindset is the key to achieving success in various aspects of life. This mindset not only provides positive energy, but also helps us face challenges more calmly and wisely.

Maintaining a positive mind makes us more resilient in facing obstacles, as well as providing satisfaction with the achievements we achieve.

Public health practitioner dr. Ngabila Salama shared a number of tips to keep a person's mindset positive and to avoid stress.

"The first step you can take is full awareness training (mindfulness)," said Ngabila in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.

Ngabila said that by practicing his full awareness, a person can focus on the things he does or the current moments. For example, such as meditation or breathing exercises in a few minutes every day.

The technique can train to be more aware of the thoughts and feelings that arise, so it is not easy to get caught up in excessive thoughts.

The second step is to limit negative thoughts. Ngabila explains that when someone starts to think about something excessively, we can realize that thought while inviting ourselves to see problems from a positive side.

"Ask yourself whether this mind is right and whether there is a more positive or realistic way to look at this situation. Replacing negative thoughts with more constructive ones can reduce stress," he said.

After managing feelings and thoughts, the next thing you can do is maintain physical activity. Exercise can help reduce stress hormones and increase the hormone of happiness such as endorphins.

Even though they only take a leisurely walk, Ngabila said that these activities still help relieve anxiety and make them feel better.

If the mind is still full, Ngabila recommends writing a journal. Write down what is in the mind so that feelings can come out and see the situation more clearly.

"Jurnal can also be a useful tool to look at overthinking patterns. Then focus on things that can be controlled. Many things that make us overthinking are things that are out of control. Focus our energy on things that we can change and control. This helps feel more controllable in life," he said.

In order to live a more positive life, thank yourself by doing simple exercises such as writing things that are grateful for can help increase happiness.

This will help self become focused on small, positive things every day and help the brain get used to seeing good things more than the negative.

The last way is to connect with people closest to you such as family and friends to share feelings and thoughts. Talking about feelings for those closest to you will help you see the situation from another point of view and relieve anxiety.

"Remember, happiness is a process that involves daily habits, and reducing overthinking is a journey that takes time and practice," said the Head of the Medical and Nursing Service Section of the Tamansari Hospital.
