Communications and Digital (Komdigi) Takes Action on Influencer Accounts Promoting Online Gambling

JAKARTA - The Director General of Public Information and Communication (IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Prabu Revolusi emphasized that Kemkomdigi will continue to intensify efforts to eradicate online gambling in Indonesia.

According to him, through cyber patrols, content blocking, and cooperation with digital platforms and banking, Komdigi will not tolerate any form of promotion or activity related to online gambling.

One of the latest cases that is currently being handled is the influencer account @siskaeee_vip with more than 200 thousand followers, which is known to be linked to the online gambling site https://firehotgame.vip.

"On the bio profile page, there is a link to the online gambling site. We will immediately coordinate with the Task Force and the Meta platform for follow-up. The website will be taken down and the influencer's account will be frozen," said Prabu in his official broadcast on Friday, November 3.

Based on VOI monitoring on Monday, November 4, the @siskaeee_vip account can no longer be found on Instagram.

Prabu also stated that Komdigi has collaborated with various digital platforms to take strict action against accounts that violate policies related to online gambling activities.

“Including influencer accounts that have broad influence in society. This is a form of strong commitment from the Indonesian Government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid," added Prabu.

Because according to Prabu, influencers have a responsibility to be role models for their followers. Support, both direct and indirect, related to online gambling not only violates ethics and the law, but also has the potential to damage public morals.

On the other hand, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police revealed that the number of suspects in the online gambling case had increased to 16 people, of which 12 were Komdigi employees and four others were ordinary citizens.

Previously, on Friday, November 1, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police conducted a search at the office of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on several floors, namely 2, 3, and 8.

Responding to this case, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Meutya Hafid has also expressed her support for the Police investigation into the Komdigi employees involved in the online gambling syndicate.
