Doctor: Hemorrhoids Often Grow Up At 45-65 Years Old
JAKARTA - Surgeon dr. Christian Sumilat, Sp.B revealed that hemorrhoids often arise among adults at the age of 45-65 years and one of the most frequent causes is sitting too long.
"Often sitting for too long, chronic diarrhea has caused the anus area to become the most chronic cause," he said when contacted in Jakarta, Sunday.
Sitting too long often makes the pressure on the veins around the anus cause hemorrhoids.
Christian said hemorrhoids (hemoroids) are venous vessels that swell inside the anus and lower rectum. Hemorrhoids, he said, similar to variuses, can develop in a rectum called internal hemorrhoids. On the other hand, hemorrhoids can also develop under the skin around the anus called external hemorrhoids.

He said that the cause of hemorrhoids is the most frequent, namely hard fess or feces (BAB) and generally this occurs due to lack of fiber intake. In addition, the cause of hemorrhoids is sitting on the toilet for too long when defecating, exercising heavily and often lifting heavy loads.
"Then specifically for pregnant women, usually due to pressure on the lower abdomen area which causes widening of the veins in the anus area," said Christian, who practices at DR. Indrajana Main Clinic, Central Jakarta, that.
He said the symptoms that are often found in hemorrhoids such as itching and pain in the anus area. It can even bleeding during defection (BAB). If left unchecked, the lump will grow longer and cannot re-enter the anus and even bleeding.
Then, to treat it, doctors can use a laser method. This method gives less pain than traditional methods.
"This action is carried out by means of screening by laser personnel so that hemorrhoids in the anus will shrink and the risk of bleeding can be reduced as low as possible," he said.
