The Number Of Journalists Killed In Gaza More Than 2 Times
Palestinian press unions have revealed the number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in one year more than double the global annual average.
In a statement on Saturday (2/11) commemorating International Day to End Crime Against Journalists, the Palestinian Journalists Union said Israeli forces had killed 183 journalists in Gaza since October 2023.
"This figure is more than double the number of journalists killed every year around the world," he said, quoted by Anadolu.

They described the horrific massacre of journalism and humanity by the occupation forces in Gaza as the largest and most brutal massacre of journalists in media history around the world.
"The systematic killings carried out by the occupation forces (Israel) against Palestinian journalists in Gaza aimed at eliminating the truth witnesses will not be left without punishment," the union stressed.
Earlier on Friday (1/11), UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay said 900 journalists had been killed worldwide since 2013, with an average of 82 journalists per year. That number is less than half the number of Palestinian journalists Israel has killed in Gaza in a year.
The union also calls on countries and institutions around the world to take action and press for the formation of binding legal mechanisms and provide a deterrent effect in order to hold journalists accountable and try journalists' killers, to ensure they do not escape the sentence.
Despite UN Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued to launch devastating attacks on Gaza since attacks by Palestinian resistance groups last year.
More than 43,300 people have died most of whom were women and children, as well as more than 102.000 others injured, according to local health authorities.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court for its brutal actions in Gaza.
