Expert Staff Of Komdigi Suspect Of Online Gambling, Meutya Hafid Immediately Issues Instructions
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid issued a special instruction regarding efforts to eradicate online gambling practices within her ministry.
The order was through the Instruction of the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Number 2 of 2024 to support the enforcement of online gambling eradication within the Ministry of Communication and Trade.
"This instruction is a step or form of the Ministry of Communication and Industry's commitment to eradicating online gambling, starting from the ministry's internal scope," said the Minister of Communication and Industry, Meutya, regarding instructions addressed to all high-ranking middle leaders, high-ranking Primary leaders, and employees at his ministry, Friday, November 1, confiscated by Antara.
The Minister of Trade instructed all ministry employees to implement and comply with the Integrity Pact on Eradicating Online Gambling Activities.
The integrity pact signed by ministry employees in July 2024, among others, contains rejection of all forms of online gambling activities.
In his instructions, the Minister of Trade also emphasized the prohibition for ministry employees to communicate, influence, and distribute all forms of activities and content related to online gambling.
"This instruction was taken as a tangible form of the commitment of the Ministry of Communication and Digital in supporting President Prabowo Subianto's direction to protect the public from the impact of online gambling," he said.

The instruction of the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs which will be implemented from November 1, 2024, is expected to be a strong first step to continue efforts to eradicate online gambling practices.
Previously reported, the police arrested 11 people involved in online gambling practices, including the Komdigi expert staff who had been named suspects.
"11 people were arrested and named as suspects. Civilians and some of them (employees) Komdigi, there are also some expert staff," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Friday, November 1.
It was not conveyed in detail the number and initials of Komdigi employees who had been named as suspects.
It is only stated that they abuse their authority in handling online gambling crimes.
"They abused (the authority)," said Ade.
