BEKASI - The Bekasi District Attorney's Office, West Java, ensured that there was no political element when naming a suspect in the head of the local DPRD with the initials SL on suspicion of corruption in receiving gratuities or bribes.

"We make sure there are no elements of criminalization or political elements in this case. All stages are in accordance with statutory provisions," said Head of the Intelligence Section of the Bekasi District Attorney's Office Samuel in Cikarang, Antara, Thursday, October 31.

The investigating prosecutor has been investigating the alleged gratification and/or bribery since August 11, 2023 based on an Investigation Order issued by the Head of the Bekasi District Attorney's Office, long before the general election (election) and the 2024 regional head general election (pilkada) began.

Based on the results of the investigation, the hospital, which is a private party or contractor, was named a suspect on October 31, 2023 on suspicion of granting gratuities and or bribes to SL.

In this regard, the investigating prosecutor has carried out a series of investigative actions for the development of the case before entering the series of elections and elections in 2024.

"Therefore, statements in various reports regarding the determination of SL suspects have a political nuance are statements that cannot be accounted for," he said.

Samuel also mentioned that in connection with the implementation of elections or the 2024 political year, the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia conveyed to all levels of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia to keep the general election stable and conducive.

The directive applies to postpone the examination process at the investigation and investigation stages since it was determined in the candidacy until the entire series of processes and stages of the election are completed.

"The Bekasi District Attorney's Office complied with the Attorney General's direction in conducting investigations and determining the SL suspect," he said.

In this case, the selection of legislative members in Bekasi Regency has been carried out and the elected DPRD members have been sworn in on October 28, 2024 so that the process of selecting legislative members has been completed since that date.
