Saudi Arabia Holds Alliance Meeting To Discuss Realization Of Palestinian Countries

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia hosted a high-level meeting in Riyadh, which is expected to lead to measures setting deadlines for the realization of an independent Palestinian state and the end of the occupation by Israel.

The meeting will be organized by a global alliance for the implementation of a two-state solution, a group of Arab and European countries formed by Saudi Arabia last month.

Wednesday, October 30 meeting will be the first meeting held by the alliance.

Saudi Arabia previously announced the formation of an international alliance aimed at establishing a Palestinian state and implementing a two-state solution.

"On behalf of Arab and Islamic countries, together with our European partners, we announce the launch of the International Alliance to Implement the Two-National Solutions," Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said.

While speaking on the sidelines of a series of UN General Assembly sessions in New York on Palestinian issues and peace efforts, Foreign Minister Zaisal did not elaborate on the alliance.

Faisal has threatened a devastating humanitarian crisis caused by war in Gaza as well as serious violations by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

He described Israel's actions as part of a broader policy of the occupation and extremism of violence.

"The right to self-defense cannot justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, systematic destruction, forced transfer, the use of hunger as weapons of war, incitement of hatred, dehumanization," he said.

"... or the use of systematic torture, including documented sexual violence and other crimes according to the UN report," he said.

Regarding the increase in violence in the region, including Israel's continuing attacks in Lebanon, Faisal warned of a wider potential conflict.
