2 Defendants In The Case Of 52 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine Sentenced To Death By The Jambi District Court

JAMBI - The Jambi District Court sentenced two defendants to a drug case with 52 kilograms of methamphetamine ownership.

Chief Justice Dominggus Silaban said the two defendants, Fanny Susanto (46), were private workers and M. Afif (27), an employee of the Jambi prison.

Both were sentenced to death after being found guilty of abusing 52 kilograms of methamphetamine by violating Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

In its ruling, the Panel of Judges stated that the two defendants were sentenced to the death penalty in accordance with the demands and that nothing was mitigating the defendant. Both were legally proven and guilty of receiving and distributing narcotics Category 1.

The legal advisers of the two defendants Ahmad said that his party would appeal the judge's decision because his party did not accept the death penalty against the defendant.

Previously reported, the Jambi Police Narcotics Unit revealed an international drug network with evidence of 52.5.4 kg of methamphetamine.

Jambi Police Chief Kombes Eko Wahyudi said that on January 6, 2024, the Jambi Police received information that in the Simpang Empat Sipin area, Telanaipura, Jambi City, methamphetamine transactions would be sent to Jakarta.

Personnel immediately went to the location and found as many as 20 large packages of suspected methamphetamine drugs stored in a black bag.

After that, the personnel carried out developments up to Jakarta, and on January 7, 2024, the police arrested a man with the initials F in Jakarta.

From the police development, he arrested another perpetrator with the initials MA with 32 kg of crystal methamphetamine in the Telanaipura area.

The perpetrator of the Supreme Court admitted that he had sent 20 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine to Jakarta.
