US Reminds Israel To Supply Aid To Prevent Hunger In Gaza

JAKARTA - The United States insists it rejects Israel's efforts to make Palestinians starving in Greater Java, or anywhere in the Gaza Strip.

"Israel's words (commodating aid, ed) must be balanced with actions on the ground. At present, this is not the case. This must be changed immediately," US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the UN Security Council., Tuesday, October 29.

The US told its ally Israel, by a letter on October 13, it had to take steps within 30 days to fix the humanitarian situation in Gaza or face potential restrictions on US military aid.

Israel began a massive military offensive in northern Gaza earlier this month.

Thomas-Greenfield said on October 16, Washington was watching to ensure Israel's actions on the ground showed they had no policy of preventing starvation in the northern region.

On Monday, Palestinian Civil Emergency Services said about 100,000 people were stranded in Jabalia, Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza without medical or food supplies.
