RI Promotes Issues Of Achievement Of Reducing Carbon Emissions And Trading At COP29
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said the presentation of the achievement of emission reduction and also the implementation of carbon trading which is being built as a diplomatic issue promoted by Indonesia at the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29).
Minister LH Hanif said several diplomatic issues would be brought and presented by the Indonesian delegation in accordance with the direction of the Chairman of the Indonesian Delegation for COP29 as well as the Special Envoy for Energy and Environment Hashim S Djojohadikusumo.
"So this is of course an achievement led by Mr. Hashim which we will try to bring there. Then also our efforts to spur an increase in all sectors in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, one of which is being carbontrained and we are also building," said Hanif, who also serves as Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH).
He explained that Indonesia had conveyed its achievements in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat and would be reaffirmed in a speech at COP29 which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in November 2024.

Hanif ensured that the issue of climate financing will also be fought for by Indonesia in COP29, especially after COP28 in the United Arab Emirates in 2023 has agreed on funding of US$83 billion (around Rp1.2 quadrillion).
"I think it's also a long way to go but we will fight for what we have. So what is on the international side of the negotiations is prolonged but what we already have we will execute," he said.
