Brazilian Club Supporter Cruzeiro Dies After Attacked Palmeiras Supporters
JAKARTA - Brazilian authorities said a fan of Cruzeiro had died after being ambushed and attacked on the side of the road by Palmeiras supporters in the state of Sao Paulo on Sunday, October 27, 2024, morning local time.
The fan is confirmed to have died at a hospital in the city of Mairipora, 46 kilometers (28 miles) north of Sao Paulo. Local media reports said at least 12 fans were injured in the same attack.
In fact, supporters Cruzeiro are on their way back to Belo Horizonte by bus after their team lost 0-3 at Athletico Paranaense in Brazil's Serie A.

Brazilian Federal Traffic Police told reporters the victim was a 30-year-old man but gave no further details. Sao Paulo's Public Security Secretariat said the attack was carried out by Palmeiras fanatical supporters.
Footage on Brazilian TV showed a bus on fire and several Cruzeiro fans lying on the pavement as Palmeiras supporters punched and hit them with a stick.
