Bukayo Saka Sets A Record, But Disappointed With Arsenal's Draw Against Liverpool
JAKARTA - Bukayo Saka contributed one goal when Arsenal drew 2-2 against Liverpool in the ninth week of the 2024/2025 Premier League, Sunday, October 27, 2024.
The goal led Saka to become the youngest Arsenal player to score 50 Premier League goals. The 23-year-old opened the Gunners' lead in the ninth minute.
The goal also led him to become the seventh youngest player in the Premier League to reach 50 goals at the age of 23 and 52 days, eight days older than when England's top scorer Harry Kane scored his 50th Premier League goal.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler remains the youngest player to reach the milestone at the age of 20 and 252 days. He outperformed fellow Reds strikers Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Romelu Lukaku, and Cristiano Ronaldo as the fifth youngest player.
"I don't like missing the game. So, I'm really excited to come back."
"I've been thinking about this match (against Liverpool). I feel fine there, and happy to be scoring a quick goal," Saka said on Arsenal's official website.

Despite setting a record, Saka admitted that he was disappointed with the results of the series. He felt that the team's performance in public itself was not optimal.
"We are disappointed. I feel we didn't show our best abilities for 90 minutes and it cost us in the end. We believe we should have won," said the England international.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta praised Saka's consistency as one of the positive things.
In fact, the winger had just returned from a hamstring injury. Saka is out of action after fighting Southampton on October 5, 2024.
However, as soon as he came down again, he could answer the coach's trust and become a key player for Arsenal.
"After a few weeks of absence, the way he played and competed was incredible. I think we had some great individual performances in the team," said Arteta.
Arsenal are currently in third place in the Premier League standings, five points behind leaders Manchester City.
The Gunners will next visit Newcastle United headquarters in the 10th week of the Premier League, Saturday, October 2, 2024.
