Erik Ten Hag Still Denies Defeat 0-3 Tottenham

JAKARTA - Manchester United just lost 1-2 against West Ham on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

The defeat further put Erik ten Hag's position cornered in the manager's seat. You see, the Dutch coach's work has been monitored by club officials since the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur 0-3 at the end of last month.

However, Ten Hag still insists that he is still safe, at least until the end of this season.

Moreover, according to Ten Hag, defeat against Spurs should not be included in the club's evaluation. He also denied the result because he felt cheated.

The Red Devils had to play with 10 people at that time after Bruno Fernandes got a red card.

No wonder, Manchester United filed an appeal against the red card. However, the FA (British Football Federation) canceled the appeal on October 1, 2024.

"I deny the game, ignoring the game against Spurs as we were paired to 10 players 0-1 down."

"Then (a comparison) the red card was canceled. So, I really ignored the game," said Ten Hag.

"It wasn't a fair assessment from the team to consider this because we didn't have the chance to bounce back."

"However, you see this team is tough, this team has determination," he said again as reported by ESPN.

After fighting Spurs, Manchester United only won two draws against Porto (3-3) and Aston Villa (0-0) before the international break.

His position was even more critical during the competition holiday. Ten Hag's dismissal strengthened again as there was a closed meeting of club officials.

However, it turns out that Ten Hag is still safe in his seat. After returning from international break, Manchester United answered doubts with a 2-1 win over Brentford.

However, the Red Devils' inconsistency broke out again after only playing a series against Fenerbahce in the Europa League and losing against West Ham in the latest Premier League.

"Against Brentford and got a tough two away game schedule in the Europa League. Previously against Porto, then against Fenerbahce."

"This team has a character and shows the spirit and determination of those who fight to win," said Ten Hag.

Ten Hag also pointed to the injury factor, triggering his team not to get maximum results.

Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, and cap Malacia haven't played for the club this season. While Mason Mount has to go back and forth to the treatment room.

He played the first two Premier League games, but missed again before appearing again against Spurs.

After that, Mount had to miss out again after the defeat against the Spurs.

"This holds us at our level and at our position in the league. When you don't have the players available, you can't have the best team."

"That's what holds us back at this point. We need more players who are often available."

"Then, we have to work together on this with the players, coaching staff, and all the rest of the staff. We have to do better to get more players available."

"We know when we have it. We are a very tough team to play and when we have it. We can really be successful," said Ten Hag again.
