2 Different Opinions, Supriyani's Teacher Trial Accused Of Hitting Police Children Continued Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The follow-up trial of the defendant Supriyani, a teacher at SDN 4 Baito in South Konawe Regency (Konsel), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), was again postponed due to different opinions between the public prosecutor (JPU) and the defendant's legal adviser.

The trial at the Andoolo District Court (PN) began at 09:00 WITA, Monday, October 28, and was suspended for an hour by the Panel of Judges led byte Rosano on the grounds of granting the prosecutor's request to prepare an answer from the applicant's exception, in this case, the defendant's attorney Supriyani.

The attorney for the defendant Supriyani, Samsuddin, stated that he refused and objected to what the prosecutor had accused him of at the initial trial.

The defendant's legal advisory team argued or concluded that the indictment of the public prosecutor Number of PDM-39/RP-9/10/2024 Case Registration dated October 16, 2024, was prepared based on the results of investigations that violated procedures regulated in statutory provisions and therefore should have been declared unacceptable.

"We as legal advisors state that the trial will continue in the main investigation of the case," said Samsuddin, confiscated by Antara.

He said that this request was based on the consideration that the attorney did not want the proof of this case to stop at a formal or procedural proof.

"We want the evidence of this case to be carried out materially by examining the subject case so that we can prove that the defendant Supriyani is not guilty of committing a criminal act and prove that the defendant has been criminalized by police officers and prosecutors," he said.

"So that police officers and prosecutors who have been proven to have criminalized the defendant Supriyani can be punished and severely punished both administratively and criminally," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor who is also the Head of the South Konawe District Attorney Ujang Sutisna stated that he rejected the exception submitted by the legal advisor regarding several points that were no longer related to the subject matter of the case.

"The points conveyed by the legal advisor did not enter the realm of exception and did not fulfill 156 of the Criminal Code", he said.

Ujang said that he only agreed that the trial would continue at the point of the case.

"I really regret why this main trial case was not only from the beginning of the trial," he said.

After listening to the presentation of the two parties, between the prosecutor and the defendant's legal advisor, the panel of judges decided to postpone the trial to be held again on Tuesday, October 29 with the excuse of drafting an interim decision.

In the case that went up to this trial, the honorary teacher of SDN 4 Baito Supriyani was accused of hitting his student with the initials D (8). Investigators and reporters in this case are colleagues at the Baito Sector Police (Polsek).
