Pramono-Rano Spokesperson Says RK Reveals Wrong Data On The Human Development Index In Banten

Spokesperson for Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, Aris Setiawan Yodi, said that Jakarta Governor candidate number 1 Ridwan Kamil revealed wrong data regarding the human development index (HDI) in Banten Province.

IPM data in Banten was revealed by RK as the subject of a question to the candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 3 Rano Karno who is the former Governor of Banten.

RK revealed the data he got that the HDI in Banten Province during 2012-2017 fell 0.07 percent. After being re-checked through the official data of the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), it turned out to be different from the data revealed by RK.

"I don't know what data referrals Kang Emil used when trying to attack Bang Doel during the debate," said Aris in his statement, Monday, October 28.

In BPS RI data, said Aris, the HDI of Banten Province in 2012 was 68.92, then in 2016 as the last year of Rano serving as Governor, the HDI rose to 70.96.

"So, the number of human development in Banten as long as Bang Doel becomes Deputy Governor and the Governor in Banten actually goes up, not down," he said.

In the second debate of the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Sunday, October 27 night, RK questioned Rano by admitting that he was surprised why the HDI in Banten actually tended to decline, based on the data he found.

"In my notes from 2012 to 2017, Banten's human development index did not increase. What happened was not stable, instead it fell 0.07. What were the obstacles? What was the problem so that it was very regrettable that could happen?" asked RK to Rano, Sunday, October 27.

Responding to this, Rano admitted that it was difficult for him to coordinate with officials of the Banten Regional Government Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). This is because the province has two Regional Police Chiefs and two Pangdams.

On the one hand, Rano admitted that he was grateful that Banten was given various national strategic projects from President Joko Widodo when he was still leading the country, ranging from the determination of Soekarno Hatta Airport to the airport in Banten territory, to the Serang-Panimbang toll road. However, the project is uneven in all regions.

"This means that Banten is territoryally prosperous in Greater Tangerang. Only the Pandeglang area, Lebak, is certainly difficult to develop," explained Rano.

Responding to Rano's answer, RK admitted that he was surprised that the HDI in Banten had still been given many projects by Jokowi in the province.

"Earlier, it was conveyed by dakta, that he has been given so many national strategic projects from Pak Jokowi, but I saw that the IPM records were down, not up," said RK.
