Motorcycle Smuggling Was Thwarted At Labuan Bajo Port
LABUAN BAJO - West Manggarai Police, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) received the delegation of cases of alleged smuggling of two-wheeled motorized vehicles without an official letter from the Labuan Bajo Naval Base (Lanal).
The police have secured evidence in the form of six units of motorcycles of various brands that were allegedly stolen and a number of documents.
"We received an delegation of cases of fraudulent vehicles from the Military Police Lanal Labuan Bajo," said West Manggarai Police Chief AKBP Christian Sometimes in a statement received in Labuan Bajo quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, October 27.
He explained that Labuan Bajo Lanal personnel succeeded in thwarting the transportation of a fraudulent motorcycle from Surabaya, East Java in the Multipurpose Port area of Labuan Bajo.
From the disclosure of the case, he continued, the police arrested two suspected perpetrators, namely a driver with the initials HS (25) and a kernet with the initials NM (23). Both are residents of West Manggarai.
"We are still investigating to uncover this case and two suspected perpetrators are temporarily being questioned for further investigation material for development," he explained.

The West Manggarai Police Chief also expressed his appreciation to the Lanal Labuan Bajo personnel who have assisted the police and the cooperation that has been established is considered a form of solid synergy between the TNI-Polri in maintaining security and public order (Kamtibmas) in the West Manggarai area.
"The TNI is our partner, and we hope that this good cooperation will continue," said the 2006 Alumni of Police Academy.
In addition, other efforts have also been made by the police to eradicate vehicles without an official letter in West Manggarai by holding Operation Zebra Turangga 2024 which was held on October 14-21, 2024.
"One of these operations is to check two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles that are not equipped with legal ownership. This can minimize the existence of fraudulent vehicles," he said.
