MARRIED A Concerned Judge In Ronald Tannur's Case During The Issue Of Judges' Welfare

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Judicial Association (IKAHI) expressed concern over the determination of three judges at the Surabaya District Court (PN) case Ronald Tannur as a suspect in bribery or gratification during the struggle of the judges in seeking prosperity.

"MR. I realize the disappointment of thousands of judges because the arrest occurred in the midst of the efforts of all judges to fight for the rights and facilities of judges to the state some time ago and ending with the issuance of PP (Government Regulation) Number 44 of 2024," said PP IKAHI Chairman Yasardin in an official statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.

At the same time, he said, at a time when thousands of judges were struggling to uphold justice with integrity and high professionalism in the midst of limitations in various regions.

He said that the actions of the three judges who were suspected of committing the crime of gratification were a severe blow to the panel of judges and the Supreme Court (MA) institution.

"It also injures the sense of justice, and makes efforts to enforce integrity, honesty and professionalism of judges seem to disappear in the eyes of the community," he said.

Regarding the ongoing legal case, he said IKAHI was in line with the attitude of the Supreme Court, namely respecting and fully supporting the legal process carried out by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) while still upholding the principle of presumption of innocence.

PP IKAHI, he continued, appealed and invited all judges not to be discouraged and lose hope to always uphold justice with high integrity.

"This incident will not dampen our enthusiasm as law enforcers who are fair, clean and professional for the realization of the Supreme Court," he said.

He then said, "To judges throughout Indonesia, don't be discouraged, continue to uphold justice by imposing a fairest decision on justice seekers."

He also invited the case of determining the bribery suspect of the three judges as an extraordinary momentum to clean up and improve themselves for the judiciary in the future.

IKAHI believes that the public still considers that there are still many judges who are truly clean and with integrity in remote parts of the country who do not pawn themselves and bring down the upper reaches of the judiciary and their positions for the sake of something that is contrary to the legislation.

"Let the judges throughout Indonesia show that we are able to become judges with integrity and professionalism in upholding justice, we are disappointed but cannot lose to this situation because we must enforce the law even though the sky is collapsing," he said.

Previously, the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung), Wednesday (23/10), named three judges who acquitted Ronald Tannur as suspects in alleged bribery or gratification, namely ED (Erituah Damanik), HH (Heru Hanindyo), and M (Mangapul).

Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Office of Jampidsus Abdul Qohar at a press conference at the Attorney General's Office, Jakarta (23/10) said that apart from the three judges, investigators also named Ronald Tannur's lawyer with the initials LR as a suspect as the bribe giver.

Following on Friday (25/10), the Attorney General's Office then named another suspect, namely the former Kabadiklat Kumdil of the Supreme Court with the initials ZR (Zarof Ricar) as a suspect in the alleged bribery case in the cassation-level decision against Ronald Tannur.
