Israel Attacks Iran, United States Considers Self Defense Exercises

JAKARTA - The United States claims not to be involved in Israel's military operations against Iran. Israeli attacks are called self-defense exercises.

"We understand that Israel carried out targeted attacks on military targets in Iran as self-defense exercises and in response to Iran's ballistic missile attack on Israel on October 1. We will refer you to the Israeli government for further information on their operations," said White House National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett. reported by CNN, Saturday, October 26.

Israel launched a retaliatory attack on Iran this morning. The attack was reported right on the military's target in Iran. Tasnim news agency reported several explosions heard in the west of Iran's capital, Tehran.

As previously reported, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, following Israel's attack on Iran.

A US defense official quoted CNN as saying Saturday, October 26, said the two defense ministers spoke regularly in line with developments in the Middle East.

The US deployed the THAAD missile system to Israel and its troops to operate it, which is now available if Iran retaliates.
