Arsenal Vs Liverpool: Arteta Is Not Afraid Even Though He Was Hit By An Injury Storm

JAKARTA - Arsenal had a tough match in the ninth week of the 2024/2025 Premier League. The Gunners will host leaders Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, October 28, 2024, western Indonesia time.

Arsenal faced a storm of injuries ahead of meeting the Reds. However, Mikel Arteta did not want to be pitied.

"Until tomorrow, no (I don't know my team). (There will be) lots of pictures, lots of possibilities. Maybe the starter team won't be the team to finish the game."

"It happens every week. I have to prepare for a few scenarios. What kind of game is going on, how ready are we after making the changes we need to make, and who is available to play 90 minutes and who isn't?" Arteta said as reported by ESPN.

Arsenal will play without William Saliba who is still serving card accumulation suspension.

Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Riccardo calafori (lutut), and Jurrien wood (must problem) are still injured so they cannot take part in training on Friday, October 25, 2024.

Captain Martin Odegaard (article) and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu (lutut) are three pieces of money. Both were ruled out.

Arteta admitted at a press conference Friday that he was still unsure about the starting line-up.

However, the manager from Spain did not want to feel sorry for his team. He will firmly face whatever the current situation is.

"Obviously we don't want to be in that situation. However, we are really lucky to have the squad we have and the attitude."

"When we suddenly react to a difficult situation, we don't feel sorry for ourselves, deal with it."

"We are a team that we know how well we are and how difficult it is for us to share our opponents. We have a good mentality, something I love."

"I like watching individuals and teams react to that," said Arteta again.

Arteta does have the available Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko. He can still consider how to redesign his defense with the two names.

In addition, there are still graduates from the Arsenal Academy, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. Both performed well in the Champions League in a win against Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0.

"They always give us choices and the possibility to start. Myles came that night (against Shakhtar Donetsk). He did very well."

"Ethan is the same. They are first team players. They are with us. We treat them and respect the same way as other players."

"They, especially both, are very positive. It also brings the team together and creates energy in the team. It's something really good."

"It's about entrusting them at the best time with the right players around them, which is something very important too," said Arteta.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are now in third place in the Premier League standings with 17 points from the results of five wins, two draws, and one defeat.

The Gunners won their last competitive match against Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates in February 2024.
