Statistics Don't Guarantee Bayern Munich Can Beat Barcelona

Bayern Munich lost on the third matchday of the 2024/2025 Champions League at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Thursday, October 24, 2024, early morning WIB.

Vincent Kompany's team lost 1-4 against Barcelona.

The statistics of the meeting did not guarantee that Munich could be superior before Barca. Before the match, Die Bavaria packed 10 wins and only lost twice to the Blaugrana.

In fact, in the last six meetings, Munich has always won over Barcelona.

Never mind meeting records, the statistics convinced Munich that it didn't turn out to be sweet.

In fact, FC Hollywood dominated the game with 61 percent possession, 11 shots, and three shots on target.

The effort only resulted in one goal. It is far different from Barcelona, which performed more effectively.

Hansi Flick's men were able to shoot 12 times and made four shots on target which all led to goals.

Vice-Company also admitted that he thought his team was in the wind after Harry Kane equalized.

However, it turned out that many opportunities were missed and at important moments Barca could take advantage of it more.

"What I can share right now is how we feel about the match at the start or in the first half compared to what we thought we could achieve in this match."

"I think all of us and you guys feel it too, feel like we can lead this game and be able to turn around for us."

"But at important moments we lost. For that reason, the results were quite tough. We have to learn from this match so that at the next opportunity we will be even stronger," Kompany said in a press conference as reported by ESPN.

Barcelona opened the scoring when the game had only been running for a minute through Raphinha before being equalized by Harry Kane (18).

Former Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski then put Barca ahead again to close the first half. In the second half, the Blaugrana scored two more goals through Raphinha's braces (45' and 56').

The defeat to Barcelona made Munich extend his poor record in the Champions League.

They made two consecutive defeats. Previously, when they visited Villa Park, FC Hollywood also lost 0-1 against Villa Park.

Next, Bayern Munich will meet Benfica at the Allianz Arena on November 7, 2024. Company hopes to improve his position.

After the defeat against Barcelona, Bayern Munich are in 23rd place in the Champions League standings this season with three points.
