Although Prabowo Highlights Budget Leaks, Don't Make Law A Political Tool

JAKARTA - Member of Commission XI DPR RI Hillary Brigitta Lasut highlighted President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to overcome the issue of state budget leaks through strict and strict law enforcement. He also hopes that the Prabowo government can strengthen people's aspirations for the sake of national development.

Initially Hillary talked about the achievement of the previous government led by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"In Pak Jokowi's government, I think it is very good in the infrastructure sector and also in the government, there are so many things that Pak Jokowi breakthroughs, although there are also those that cause pros and cons," said Hillary Brigitta Lasut, Friday, October 25.

For this reason, Hillary hopes that President Prabowo's government can socialize more of the policies or programs that will be taken so that people's acceptance can be better.

"I hope that the implementation of the law will not become a political tool at this time," said one member of the young DPR.

"We hope that Pak Prabowo's government can uphold the sense of justice, lest the law be used as a political tool that only strengthens one or two parties, one or two groups but can strengthen the aspirations of the people," Hillary continued.

In his inaugural speech as president, Prabowo invited all parties to dare to face the fact that there is still a leak of the state budget, misappropriation, and corruption that endangers the future and next generation of the nation.

Prabowo also invited all political officials and government officials at all levels not to be afraid to face the reality of the scandal of fraudulent acts full of irregularities, collusion, between officials and rogue and unpatriotic entrepreneurs. He is committed to eradicating corruption that causes budget leakage.

Hillary also believes that President Prabowo Subianto will bring back the law as a real justice seeker, not a political tool.

"I believe in this new government, because Pak Prabowo has conveyed directly that democracy and the law will run well, and uphold a sense of justice. But there must be an escort for the Indonesian people," he said.

Hillary believes law enforcement in the current era of government will be better because Prabowo has also emphasized his commitment to being loyal to the constitution. That way, there will be no more violations of the constitution that had become an issue in this republic in recent times.

"It has been conveyed by Pak Prabowo that democracy will continue to be maintained. That in this new government our democracy must be much more polite than before, much more directed, more peaceful," explained Hillary.

"And the DPR and political parties can also be given space to express their aspirations firmly without fear, without anxiety and without having to be close to the authorities to have certain courage to convey their aspirations," added the legislator from the North Sulawesi electoral district.

As a member of the board assigned to Commission XI in the field of work related to state finances and national development planning, Hillary is optimistic that President Prabowo's government's target can be achieved, including Indonesia's economic growth target to increase by 8%. This is because Prabowo is aware of the issue of state budget leaks and is committed to overcoming them.

"As representatives of the people, we have to be realistic, but as people who are entrusted with hundreds of thousands of votes, of course we must also be optimistic that 4-5 years or in several years in this period (economic growth) can increase to that extent," said Hillary.

This Master of Laws from the University of Washington School of Law ensures that the DPR will carry out its role and function well to oversee government programs and policies. Hillary assesses that every policy that will be implemented in the era of President Prabowo's administration has undergone the best possible study.

"If experts in all sectors related to the Government say they are sure, it means that there is a way or there is a way that we will continue to review and continue to monitor and find out what the path will be until it can be launched or progress starts. We will continue to monitor well," he explained.

Although in the current government period there is no political party that claims to be the opposition, Hillary hopes that this will not dampen the enthusiasm of the members of the council to voice the interests of the people. That way the supervisory function of the DPR will continue to run properly.

"We hope that in the new government, the people's representatives will remain critical and still dare to express their aspirations. Even though they support the government, they will also monitor it well," said Hillary.

Furthermore, Hillary asked the new government to open up space for discussion and listen a lot to the aspirations of the people. Especially in terms of policies and programs that are polemic, considering that Commission XI also has a role in national development planning.

"If the program, law plans, policies and others are not in favor of the people, I really hope the new Government will still want to hear," said one of the most votes-winning council members in the 2024 Legislative Election.

"We as representatives of the people are of course tasked with voicing what is the concern, fear, and concern for the community," concluded Hillary.
