The Republic Of Cyprus Officially Joins The Artemis Agreement

JAKARTA The Republic of Cyprus signed the Artemis Agreement on Wednesday, October 23 to support the space exploration program. That way, Cyprus officially became part of the Artemis family.

NASA Association administrator Jim Free revealed that Cyprus is the 46th country to sign the Artemis Agreement. This country has the same commitment as NASA and other member states, namely responsible exploration.

"We appreciate Cyprus's commitment to the Artemis Agreement, which will increase the country's involvement with NASA and the international community," said Free, who joined the online contract signing ceremony.

Free added that Cyprus will assist NASA in implementing open agreements and explorations with 45 other countries that agree to support the Artemis mission. The program will be held in a transparent and peaceful manner.

The Artemis Agreement ceremony was held in Nicosia, Cyprus and signed by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus, Nicodemos Damianou. The ceremony was also attended by James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary for European Affairs and Eurasia at the US State Department.

Damianou said that the joining of Cyprus into the Artemis Agreement was a very important milestone for his country. In the next few years, Damianou believes that Artemis will take them on an exciting journey.

"We reaffirm our commitment to safe and responsible space exploration, as well as our strong belief in the importance of international cooperation in ensuring space is used for the benefit of all mankind," Damianou said.
