Indonesia's Coffee Industry Develops Rapidly To Stimulates Export Increase

JAKARTA - In recent years, coffee has been a lifestyle for most Indonesians every day. This habit makes the development of the coffee industry in Indonesia very rapid.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia, Daryanto Witarsa. He said that the coffee industry in Indonesia has grown rapidly over the past 10 years.

"It has been pulled back, 10 years until now, we (Indonesian coffee industry) are growing rapidly," said Daryanto Witarsa when met in the Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Daryanto also said that in the last two years, the price of coffee commodities has increased. This has a very good impact on coffee farmers.

"In the last two years there has also been an increase in prices in coffee commodities, the impact is quite good for farmers," he said.

Not only that, exports of typical Indonesian coffee products abroad have also increased. Daryanto said that Indonesia's demand for coffee was quite large from various countries.

"On the one hand, we also increase exports, and demand from other worlds also increases," he said.

Coffee consumption by the Indonesian people is also getting higher. The increase in coffee demand in Indonesia is expected to be met with local coffee in the future.

Our domestic consumption has also increased. So slowly, according to the previous president's direction, we have to be very self-sufficient. Maybe in the future we will no longer export coffee, coffee in Indonesia will be used in our own domestic area," concluded Daryanto Witarsa.
