South Jakarta Police Investigate Cases Of Alleged Embezzlement Of IDR 800 Million By Party Management

JAKARTA - The police are investigating allegations that a political party member (political party) with the initials ARW embezzled Rp800 million in cash, causing the detriment of a woman with the initials OPP.

"We will check," said Head of the Public Relations Section (Kasi) of the South Jakarta Metro Police AKP Nurma Dewi, quoting Antara, Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

In this case, the OPP has reported an individual lawyer and administrator of a political party (political party) with the initials ARW to the South Jakarta Metro Police.

The OPP report, represented by his attorney, Ryan Gumay, is contained in the number LP/B/3073/X/2024/SPKT/Polres Metro South Jakarta/Polda Metro Jaya on October 5, 2024.

"It is true that we reported individual advocates who are also politicians on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement," said Ryan.

Ryan explained that this case began when his client was contacted by ARW through a short message application in mid-September 2024. At that time, ARW borrowed money from OPP for business purposes amounting to Rp800,436,000.

"On Wednesday (18/9), our client asked for the money entrusted to Brother ARW. But it was not returned and promised to return it the next day on Thursday (19/9)," he said.

At that time, ARW reasoned that it was constrained by the banking system and asked the OPP to be patient. However, until now the reported party has not proven its promise.

Until finally his party sent a subpoena on Monday (30/9) but it was ignored.

"So we continue to the legal stage by making a police report at the South Jakarta Police on Saturday (5/10)," he said.

OPP has also undergone additional examinations at the South Jakarta Metro Police and received 18 questions from investigators.

"We entrust the legal process to investigators in accordance with applicable regulations and provide lessons to the reported party that do not act on behalf of the lawyer's profession and then become above the law and in the position of political party management and then tarnish the party's good name," he said.
