Viral News Of Rp50 Million Peace In The Case Of Honorary Teachers In South Sumatra Police Denying Student Persecution

KENDARI - Polda Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) emphasized that the request for money to make peace in the case that befell unscrupulous honorary teachers at SDN 4 Baito, South Konawe Regency (Konsel), which went viral on social media was not true.

The Head of Public Relations of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Iis Kristian, said that the request for money in the amount of Rp. 50 million was to reconcile cases of incorrect or hoaxes.

"This is as explained by the South Konawe Police Chief in his release," said Iis Kristian when met in Kendari as reported by Antara, Wednesday, October 23.

In handling the case involving honorary Supriyani teachers and elementary school students with the initials MC, the investigators determined not to detain the honorary teacher suspect.

"This is a sense of empathy for the National Police, especially the investigators who handle this case," he said.

The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police together with the South Konawe Police have taken steps according to procedures and according to existing legal events and facts.

"In accordance with the special law of the vulnerable. In this case, children as victims, including the protection of the rights of the reported party, namely providing space for restoration of the space for justice and not detaining them during the investigation process taking into account that the reported party is a teaching staff," said Iis Kristian.

He also added that his party continues to open itself up regarding information on the handling of the case, as a form of transparency and Polri's commitment to providing a sense of justice.

Previously, an honorary teacher at SDN 4 Baito, Konawe Selatan, named Supriyani, was reported by one of the parents of a grade 1 student on suspicion of mistreatment of the Baito Police on April 25, 2024.

The police have conducted an investigation and are also taking mediation efforts together with the local government. However, a peaceful path was not found so that the police raised their status to investigation, and transferred the case to the prosecutor's office or P21.
