Electability 42.2 Percent, Tri Adhianto-Harris Bobihoe Unggul Pair In Bekasi City Election Survey

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Panel (PSI) released the results of a survey related to the Bekasi City Mayor Election (Pilwakot), West Java ahead of the 2024 Pilkada which will be held on 27 November. The survey results show that candidate pair number 03, Tri Adhianto-Harris Bobihoe led with 42.2 percent of the vote in the simulation of open questions.

"This couple managed to obtain a significant level of electability in the eyes of respondents," said Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Panel (PSI), Mahendra Zaini in his statement, Wednesday, October 23.

In the second position, continued Zaini, candidate pair number 01, Heri Koswara-Sholihin, got 30.7 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, pair number 02, Uu Saeful Mikdar and Nurul Sumarheni, only won 2.9 percent.

In the voting simulation, respondents were asked to answer a key question 'When they come to the polling station and are in the vote room, who are the candidates to be elected?', the results showed the pair Tri Adhianto-Harris Bobihoe won 53.8 percent of the vote.

"Then, the Heri Koswara-Sholihin pair got 37.2 percent, while the Uu Saeful Mikdar-Nurul Sumarheni pair only got 4.7 percent," said Zaini.

The survey also revealed a public assessment of Tri Adhianto's performance, both as a former Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Bekasi. The survey results show a positive trend.

"A total of 78.4 percent of respondents gave positive responses to their performance, which is clearly a political advantage for the pair Tri Adhianto and Harris Bobihoe," said Zaini.

Zaini stated, there are several factors that affect the success rate of candidate pairs in the Pilkada. These include the level of popularity, capability, acceptability, and electability.

Of the four factors, according to Zaini, candidate pair number 03, Tri Adhianto-Harris Bobihoe showed a significant advantage over the other two pairs of candidates.

"The pair's popularity level reached 84.5 percent, far above the Heri Koswara-Sholihin pair who received 52.8 percent, and the Uu Saeful Mikdar-Nurul Sumarheni pair in the last position with 29.2 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, in terms of public acceptability, added Zaini, the pair Tri Adhianto-Harris Bobihoe also dominated 87.9 percent. The Heri Koswara-Sholihin pair was in second place with 50.1 percent, while the pair Uu Saeful Mikdar and Nurul Sumarheni only won 20.3 percent.

The survey also showed that the level of political participation of the people of Bekasi City was relatively high, with 82.1 percent of respondents stating that they would vote on election day.

"In addition, 80.1 percent of respondents have learned that there will be a Bekasi City Pilkada, which reflects good political awareness among residents," Zaini concluded.

The PSI survey was conducted on October 11-19 2024 through face-to-face interviews involving 1,400 respondents who are residents of Bekasi City who already have the right to vote, namely those aged 17 years and over or have been married when the survey was conducted.
