Government Issues Presidential Instruction For The Acceleration Of IKN Autonomous Trem Implementation
JAKARTA - The government has issued presidential instructions aimed at relevant ministries and institutions to support the acceleration of the implementation of the Autonomous Tram trials in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
This is stated in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 2 of 2024 concerning Support for the Acceleration of the Implementation of Trials and Work Points (proof Concept) for Autonomous Trams in IKN issued by the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), through the Documentation Network and Legal Information (JDIH) page, today.
Reporting from Antara, the Presidential Instruction signed by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Jakarta since October 18, 2024 has been addressed to four ministers and two heads of institutions.
They are the Minister of Transportation, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Minister of Finance, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Head of the IKN Authority, and Head of the Indonesian National Police.
Jokowi instructed to integrate measures to support the acceleration of the Autonomous Tram trial at IKN, including showing the concept of implementation and ensuring effective and safe operation.
The Presidential Instruction also instructs the creation of a number of supporting facilities, which include depots and equipment rooms, stations/stops, charging stations, electrical, mechanical, signaling, telecommunications networks and electrical substations, to steering lane facilities (virtual tracks) on roads to each minister and head of institution.
In the fourth point of the Presidential Instruction, it is explained that the funding for the implementation of this Presidential Instruction comes from the APBN and other legitimate and non-binding sources in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
The Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) is a project in collaboration with the Chinese SOEs CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co Ltd and Norinco which have been fully ready since August 2024.
Autonomous trends have many advantages when compared to Light Rail Transit (LRT), including using a virtual path through an automatic guide system that follows a special markings that have been installed on the road.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has sought the sustainability of the cooperation through a service purchase scheme (Buy The Service) in the 2024-2029 government period.
Reporting from a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, the buy the service scheme is mandated by Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation which was launched since 2020 to ensure the availability of road-based mass transportation in urban areas.
