Realizing The Golden Generation, Wihaji Steps On The Gas With The War On Stunting Movement

JAKARTA - Minister of Population and Family Development as well as Head of BKKBN, Dr. H. Wihaji, S.Ag., M.Pd, who has just been inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as part of the Red and White Cabinet, is moving to develop strategies and concepts to carry out his duties.

Together with his deputy minister, Isyana Bagoes Oka, Wihaji has prepared a number of concrete steps so that he can immediately fulfill his responsibilities effectively.

The Ministry of Population and Family Development is the result of improving the function of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) in the previous government.

One of Wihaji's main priorities is to accelerate the handling of stunting, which he calls War on Stunting.

Wihaji emphasized that the fight against stunting must have a clear direction and focus, ranging from determining priority locations, target targets, responsible officers, methods used, to the costs required.

All these steps will be published transparently so that the public can know the developments and impacts.

"In fighting stunting, we need to understand where the location is, who the targets are, the officers, what the method is, how much it costs, the focus is visible and published. Maybe so far there have been many movements from the BKKBN but have not been widely exposed," said Wihaji in his remarks at the BKKBN Auditorium. Center, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

He also underlined that the main goal of this program is to prevent the loss of future generations.

"The president asked us not to lose our generation due to stunting problems and other challenges," he added.

In addition to reducing stunting, BKKBN also has a responsibility in building quality families, with the aim of creating gold generation in Indonesia.

Wihaji said, this concept aims to eliminate the risk of 'lost generation' or a generation that fails to develop.

"We measure progress not only with numbers but with the achievement of human quality, ranging from education, health, to intelligence," he said.

Wihaji also emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination with related ministries and institutions in carrying out these programs. In addition, each policy cannot be measured only from short-term results.

"We have the same spirit to carry out the President's directives, and every step will be supported by inter-institutional collaboration,"

"This program concerns humans, and changes like this take time. We can't just see daily achievements, but we have to consider medium and long-term results," explained Wihaji.

Furthermore, in launching the program, Wihaji and his team at the Ministry of Population and Family Development will schedule to discuss further directions from President Prabowo Subianto and prepare concrete targets for the short, medium, to long term.

"We want to create superior, intelligent, and ready human resources to bring Indonesia further into the future. This is a long-term struggle, but with serious and sincere intentions, God willing, it can be achieved," he concluded.
