The Minister Of Manpower Can Mandate To Solve Unemployment Problems

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli said, within 100 days of office he will target solutions to create new jobs, reduce unemployment and layoffs (PHK).

"There is an opportunity for us to create a new job and this is where we will try to map it out later. What are the competencies and how we meet these competencies," he explained to the media crew when met at the Ministry of Manpower Building, Tuesday, October 22.

Not only that, he also targets the completion of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) determination which according to him is a strategic issue.

"We will try to find the best solution, that's the first," he said.

Yassierli said, to resolve the problem, his party would cooperate with trade unions to the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo).

However, he ensured, the welfare of the community does not only cover the UMP but is wider than that, such as wages based on productivity, which contribute to improving worker welfare as a whole.

"So it's very broad, of course all of us want and for sure, according to the expectations of the President, welfare must be number one," said Yassierli.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer admitted that he had a special mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to solve the problem of unemployment.

Immanuel said Prabowo specifically asked to alleviate employment problems because this is a big issue in achieving the welfare of the community.

"Our focus in the future will be on the issue of unemployment, because this will be our big narrative in the future to oversee welfare, especially in 2045 we can be about superior Indonesia, a superior generation," said Immanuel.
