Motives For Student Murder In Aceh Because Perpetrators Are Caught Wanting To Steal Cellphones

Banda Aceh Police stated that the murder case of a student named Dhiyaul (20) was motivated by economic problems. The perpetrator abused because he wanted to steal the victim's cellphone.

"Based on the results of the initial interrogation, the motive is the economy, the perpetrators of financial difficulties," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banda Aceh Police, Kompol Fadillah Aditya Pratama, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 21.

Previously, students from West Aceh Regency, Dhiyaul (20) were killed while in a boarding room in the Jeulingke area of Banda Aceh City, Saturday (19).

The victim is currently studying at the Banda Aceh Islamic and Arabic Institute of Sciences (LIPIA).

The perpetrator himself was arrested by the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim a few hours after the incident, namely on Sunday (20/10) in the morning at around 02.50 WIB, in the Peudada student dormitory located in Banda Aceh.

Fadillah explained that the incident occurred at around 10:00 WIB, where the perpetrator with the initials ZF (20) from Peudada, Bireuen Regency came alone to the victim's boarding house.

When the perpetrator arrived, it was seen by the son of the boarding house owner who at that time was cleaning the boarding house yard and asking the perpetrator's purpose. The witness did not suspect because he thought the guest was the victim's colleague.

At that time, the victim was alone in the room after his sister went to the brother's place after they had breakfast together. And after that the victim fell asleep again.

A few minutes after his sister left, the perpetrator finally came to the boarding house to steal his cellphone. And the position of the boarding house door was also unlocked, so the perpetrators easily entered the house.

Then, the perpetrator saw that the cellphone was near the victim, and wanted to steal it, but was afraid that the victim would wake up.

Finally, the perpetrator took a kitchen knife that was already there, and immediately killed the victim before taking the victim's cellphone.

"So the kitchen knife was already there, the perpetrator was afraid that the victim would wake up, so an initiative would arise to kill the victim first," he said.

However, continued Fadillah, after killing the victim, the perpetrator immediately left and left the scene. It turned out that the victim's cellphone was still left behind, not taken by the perpetrator.

"He (the perpetrator) stabbed the victim in the neck three times. The cellphone that was about to be stolen was not carried away, the perpetrator immediately left," said Fadillah.

The perpetrator carried out the action because of economic problems. Where, the suspect wants to return to his hometown in Bireuen, but there is no cost.

Before going to the victim's boarding house, the perpetrator first came to his grandmother's house to ask for money and did not get it, so that it stuck in the mind of the perpetrator wanting to take the cellphone at the victim's boarding house.

"Had gone to his grandmother's house, after that he wanted to come to this boarding house (cos the victim) by trying to steal a cellphone," he said.

Fadillah also explained that the perpetrators in the past year had visited the boarding house about 3-4 times.

The perpetrator's arrival all this time was not because he was friends with the victim, but was brought by a friend of the victim's younger brother who happened to be at school.

"From provisional information, the perpetrator had previously come several times and stayed at the boarding house about last year with his village friend, who was also friends with the victim's sister," he said.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of fifteen years.

"Or Article 340 of the Criminal Code, it is threatened with murder with a plan, with the threat of death penalty or life imprisonment or for a certain period of time, a maximum of twenty years," said Kompol Fadillah.
