JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka decided to change the name of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (KOMDIGI).
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said that this name change is in line with Prabowo's astacita, which will focus on digitizing Indonesia.
"I repeat again that the name of the ministry has changed to answer the challenges of the times, so it has also become a focus according to President Prabowo's aspirations, we will also focus on digital," said Meutya on Monday, October 21.
In addition, at the time of the announcement of the name of the Red and White Cabinet by Prabowo on Sunday, October 20 last night, Meutya emphasized that the addition of "digital" in the name of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics was also to answer the development of technology and the current era.
"This means that future communication is also digital-based, but we also know that one of our homeworks is also how to secure our data, it can also be applied with digital security," he explained yesterday.

Meanwhile, as the new Menkomdigi, Meutya will focus on its new task of eradicating online gambling, improving digital security, and fixing child-friendly digital spaces.
Meutya together with her two deputy ministers, Nezar Patria and Angga Raka Prabowo, will also visit disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas to ensure equitable internet in all corners of the country.
"Especially in Eastern Indonesia, how to check connections there, with the hope that if we want a digital base, the connection must be evenly distributed, and also fast," he said.
