Muhammad Qodari was appointed Deputy Chief of Presidential Staff. Before his name was announced, Muhammad Qodari was one of the ranks of political and professional figures who attended the briefing of the Deputy Ministerial candidate at Prabowo's residence in Hambalang on Thursday (17/10). Muhammad Qodari was born in Palembang, South Sumatra on October 15, 1973. This 51-year-old man is the founder of Indo Barometer, a research institute that researches the social-political behavior of people in the country on a regular basis. His perspective in politics departed from the background of studies during college.
Muhammad Qodari received a bachelor's degree education at the University of Indonesia (UI) in the Department of Social Psychology. Qodari continued his studies at the University of Essex in England to pursue Political Behavior. After getting his master's degree, he studied at the Faculty of Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
Qodari managed to get a 2016 Doctorate of Political Science with a very satisfying title. In his dissertation, Muhammad Qodari appointed Split-Ticket Voting and Factors that explain it in the Legislative Election and the 2014 Indonesian Presidential Election".
Muhammad Qodari's educational background led him to become a well-known political observer and researcher. Qodari founded the research institute Indo Barometer in November 2006 and became the Executive Director of the institution.
Before founding Indo Barometer, Qodari had become Deputy Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) in July 2005-October 2006 and Director of Research at the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) in July 2003-June 2005.
Previously, he served as Deputy Executive Director in the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) from July 2005 to October 2006, as well as as Director of Research at the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) between July 2003 and June 2005. In addition, he also served as Chief Editor in Candidate Magazine, Campaign and Election Magazine, from August 2003 to June 2004.
Qodari worked as a researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) from November 2002 to July 2003 and has been active as a columnist and political observer from 1999 to the present.
Previously, Qodari also served as a researcher at the Institute for Information Flow Studies (ISAI) from May 1999 to September 2001. Apart from that, he has also hosted Half-Democracy Country' and People' on a national private television station.
In the political realm of the country recently, Qodari has been involved as an advisor to the Jokowi-Prabowo Volunteer Group (Jokpro) when the issue of President Jokowi's three-term position was widely discussed. Qodari is one of the groups that supports the idea. In addition, he also had time to raise ideas about the Jokowi-Prabowo pair for the 2024 General Election.
"For me, it's not Jokowi for three terms. Actually, I imagine and anticipate that the 2024 election will be paired with Jokowi with Prabowo. So to be precise Jokowi-Prabowo 2024, that's my tagline. I'm proclaimed, Jokowi-Prabowo 2024," said Qodari.
Qodari is the initiator of the idea of Jokowi-Prabowo 2024 (Jokpro2024). One of the moments that made a scene was when he appeared at the Mata Najwa talk show, he expressed his support for Jokpro2024. He even came wearing a shirt with a picture of the Jokowi-Prabowo pair.
According to Qodari, the main reason for supporting the Jokowi and Prabowo pairs is to prevent political polarization in the community from happening again. He was worried that the political polarization that had appeared in the 2014 presidential election, 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, and 2019 presidential election would repeat itself.
