Surakarta City Government Removes Pasrah Tinampi Procession For Jokowi's Welcome

Solo Surakarta City Government has decided to abolish the procession of surrendering to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), upon arrival at his residence in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday, October 20.

Head of the Surakarta City Protocol, Communication and Public Administration Section (Prokompim), Sulistiarini, confirmed that even though the procession of surrendering to the mandate was abolished, the lampah grandson ceremony to accompany Jokowi to his residence was still being held.

"If the trash is still there, it's just that there is no welcoming dance that takes him to his residence," said Sulistiarini.

The decision to abolish the campaign surrender procession was made based on a direct request from Jokowi. The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia requested that his welcoming to Solo be carried out simply without excessive ceremonial processions.

"Pak Jokowi has conveyed through the media that he wants the reception to be carried out simply and without ceremoniality," explained Sulistiarini.

However, several welcoming activities will still be carried out, including remarks at Adi Soemarmo Airport and along the road that was crossed by Jokowi and Iriana to their residence.

"The reception at the airport, on the streets, and at the residence is still being carried out, only without a ceremonial procession," he added.

In addition, several other forms of welcoming such as dance, music, and the presence of school students who will line up along the road from Adi Soemarmo Airport to Jokowi's residence have also been prepared to welcome the former President's return to Solo.
