JAKARTA - A number of toddlers and children who were victims of a fire on Jalan Kalianyar IV, RW 02, Kalianyar Village, Tambora, West Jakarta, received 'traumatic healing' services from the Psychology of the Metro Jaya Police HR Bureau and West Jakarta Metro Policewomen, Thursday, October 17.

The counselors for the Psychology section of the West Jakarta Metro Police invite toddlers and children in refugee camps to sing, play, color pictures, toys to provide snacks.

This is because the deadly fire in the area claimed five lives. One of the victims was a 7-year-old child.

Psipol Ro HR Subdivision Paur Polda Metro Jaya, Penata I Woroningroem Fatmasari said, through trauma healing activities, the police tried to help restore the psychological condition of the victims, in the hope that they could bounce back.

He further said that trauma healing is very important to restore the psychological condition of children and parents affected by the fire.

"We came here to provide post-traumatic counseling to residents, especially children, so they can ease their anxiety and fear," Woro told reporters, Thursday, October 17.

In addition to playing therapy for children, his party also provides hyponotherapi vehicles for affected parents.

Hypnotherapi aims to help them release negative emotions that may still be hidden, in order to feel calm and comfortable again.

"We did this ipnotherapy to help mothers to be calmer and restore psychological conditions due to trauma from the fire incident," he said.

Woro explained that trauma from the fire could have had a long impact, especially for children who lost their friends or family members in the incident.

"There are children who continue to remember the incident, even feeling afraid to be in certain places that remind them when the fire broke out," he said.

In addition, the police also teach five-finger breathing techniques or diaphragm breathing to fire victims. This respiratory technique is a simple, but effective exercise to help relieve anxiety and make them feel more comfortable, both physically and mentally.

"We hope that the trauma healing that we do can restore the joy of children and calm for parents," he said.
