Meta Lays Off, WhatsApp Employees And Instagram Affected
JAKARTA Meta has laid off a number of its employees. This cuts occurred in a number of its platform departments, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Reality Labs.
According to The Verge report, Meta did not lay off mass layoffs. This technology company has only laid off a few employees for reorganization. This news has also been confirmed directly by Meta Spokesperson, Dave Arnold.
Meta laid off several of its teams on Thursday, October 17. Arnold explained that, "Some teams in Meta are making changes to ensure resources are aligned with their long-term strategic goals and location strategies."
Apart from layoffs, Meta also moved a number of teams to different locations. Unfortunately, it was not explained what teams were moved and how many workers were affected by this reorganization.

"This includes moving several teams to different locations and moving some employees to different roles. In a situation like this when a role is removed, we work hard to find other opportunities for affected employees," said Arnold.
This is not the first layoff by Meta, particularly in the Reality Labs department. Earlier this year, Meta carried out a massive reorganization to form the latest Wearable group. However, the number of employees who were laid off was also not large.
Meta has also done major layoffs in the last two years. In 2022, the company laid off 11,000 employees. A year later, Meta laid off 10,000 workers as part of the year of efficiency.
