Heru Budi Dismissed From Acting Governor Of DKI, Replaced By Teguh Setyabudi Starting Tomorrow

JAKARTA - Heru Budi Hartono's term of office as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta has ended on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Heru no longer leads Jakarta and returns to a single position, namely the Head of the Presidential Secretariat until President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) term ends.

Yesterday, Jokowi signed Presidential Decree number 125P regarding the dismissal and appointment of the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"At the Presidential Decree, the President honorably dismissed Mr. Heru Budi Hartono as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta and appointed Mr. Teguh Setyabudi as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in a short message, Thursday, October 17.

Teguh currently serves as Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). Teguh is one of the three names proposed by the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

After the leadership of Jakarta was filled by the Acting Governor for 2 years, the DPRD again proposed 3 names of candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI who would take office until the inauguration of the Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta was elected as a result of the 2024 Pilkada.

Acting Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Aang Witarsa Rofik, said that the inauguration of the Acting Governor of DKI was only held on Friday, October 18 at 09.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Heru's term of office was completed on October 16. Thus, the Ministry of Home Affairs appointed the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DKI Jakarta Joko Agus Setyono to be the daily executor of the Governor of DKI.

"In the provisions of Article 131 paragraph (4) of Government Regulation No. 49 of 2008 it is emphasized that in terms of the position of regional heads and deputy regional heads it occurs (emptyness) as referred to in paragraph (3), the Regional Secretary carries out the daily duties of regional heads up to the President to appoint regional head officials," said Aang.

Some time ago, Heru Budi Hartono admitted that he was grateful that his name would no longer be proposed by the DKI Jakarta DPRD to return to office after his term of office ended on October 17.

"Alhamdulillah, it was a pretty good and correct decision," said Heru when met in the National Monument area, Tuesday, September 17.

If he is no longer the Acting Governor of DKI, Heru admits that he can focus on carrying out his duties as Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) which he has held since 2017. Given, for the last two years, Heru has concurrently served as the Presidential Decree and Acting Governor of DKI.

"So I can concentrate as the Head of the Presidential Secretariat. It's been 2 years (the Acting Governor of DKI). By the rules. Thank you to the ranks of the DPRD, the chairman and vice chairman and all of them. Once again Alhamdulillah," explained Heru.
