KPK Investigate Allegations Of Uncle Birin Receiving Money To Win His Wife In The South Kalimantan Gubernatorial Election

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will investigate the flow of bribes and gratuities received by the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to the alleged receipt of the money to win Uncle Birin's wife, Raudhatul Jannah or Acil Odah who ran in the South Kalimantan gubernatorial election. He said investigators would investigate it through witness examination.

"All parties involved in the alleged case being handled by the KPK, in this case investigators will certainly be asked for information based on the statements or testimonies of witnesses or to explain evidence, be it letters or instructions that have been obtained by investigators," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters, Thursday, October 17.

Meanwhile, regarding the summons of Raudhatul Jannah, Tessa did not want to elaborate further. Requests for information will definitely be adjusted to the needs of investigators.

As for Sahbirin's summons, the spokesman with the investigator's background said he was still waiting for the process of collecting evidence. However, the planning has been made.

"Still in the planning process (Sahbirin's examination, ed) because the investigation process is still ongoing," he said.

"Friends are still examining witnesses and the search process. So, we'll just have to wait when the time comes when there are parties who have been conveyed, their names are mentioned, they will be informed," continued Tessa.

Previously reported, it was previously reported that the KPK named a total of seven people as suspects in the case of alleged receipt of gifts or promises by state officials or representing them in South Kalimantan Province in 2024-2025. This determination began with a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Sunday, October 6.

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin has been named a suspect in receiving bribes along with four other people. They are the Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Ahmad Solhan (SOL), the Head of Cipta Karya as well as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Yulianti Erlynah (YUL), the Management of the Tahfidz Darussalam House as well as the collector of money or fee Ahmad (AMD) and Plt. Head of the Household of the Governor of South Kalimantan Agustya Febry Andrean (FEB).

Meanwhile, as the givers were Sugeng Wahyudi (YUD) and Andi Susanto (AND) as private parties. Thus, there are a total of seven suspects.

This gift was made after Sugeng and Andi got three projects in South Kalimantan. The details:

1. Development of Football Fields in the Integrated Sports Area of South Kalimantan Province with selected provider PT WKM (Wismani Kharya Mandiri) with a work value of Rp23 billion; 2. Integrated Samsat Development with selected provider PT HIU (Haryadi Indo Utama) with a work value of Rp22 billion;3. Development of Swimming Pools in the Integrated Sports Area of South Kalimantan Province with selected provider CV BBB (Bunt Banua Bersama) with a work value of Rp9 billion.

A total of seven suspects, only Uncle Birin has not been arrested. However, the KPK has asked the Directorate General of Immigration to prevent it from leaving the country for six months.
