South Sulawesi Police Arrest Perpetrators Of The Murder Of Adjutants Of The Bantaeng Regent Candidate

The Mobile Investigation Unit (Resmob) Team of the South Sulawesi Police (Sulsel) arrested the perpetrator of the murder of a personal aide to the Bantaeng Regent, Subhan, aged 63 years on Jalan Poros, Maros Regency.

"After we develop the information, he (the perpetrator) wants to go to Kalimantan, we will continue to arrest him in the Maros area," said Head of the South Sulawesi Police Resmob Unit, Kompol Benny Ponika, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 16.

The perpetrator named Iwandi alias Wandi (24) stabbed the victim who is a retired TNI and personal bodyguard of the Bantaeng Regent candidate M Fathul Fauzi Nurdin.

The perpetrator was arrested in a passenger car on Jalan Tompo Bulu Maros, South Sulawesi to go to Parepare City to escape to Kalimantan. The whereabouts of the perpetrators after receiving information and initial information from witnesses.

The stabbing occurred on October 2, 2024. At that time the victim returned home after returning from his place of duty at midnight on Jalan Poros Bantaeng, Belo Parang Village, Bonto Lebangang Village.

The victim suspected that he saw someone riding a motorbike stopping near his house in the middle of the night.

The victim then reprimanded and asked the person. When asked, he did not answer, so there was a quarrel and the person immediately stabbed the victim.

The perpetrator stabbed the victim in the stomach and then fled. It is suspected that the victim was drunk.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Anwar Makkatutu Banteng Regional Hospital and had received intensive care for several days. But his life could not be saved.

"We are still developing the motive, but for the time being what we get the information, they don't know each other, meet on the road, then there is a slight argument, then there was a stabbing," said Kompol Benny.

"The trigger for the initial misunderstanding, this victim is a retiree in one of the agencies, the victim has died. We have coordinated with the local Police for follow-up. For the evidence (the knife) he has thrown it away, but later we will look for it," explained Benny.
