5 People Killed In Israeli Airstrikes In Lebanon's Nabatieh

JAKARTA - Five people were killed when Israeli airstrikes hit a building in the southern city of Nabatieh, Lebanon.

Israel attacked the Kotamadya Nabatieh building on Wednesday, October 16, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said. The debris cleaning operation is ongoing.

Videos shared on social media and geolocation by CNN show plumes of smoke rising from various regions in Nabatieh.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah first fired dozens of rockets into several northern Israeli regions overnight.

About 50 rockets were identified by the military across Israeli territory in the early hours of Wednesday.

Several projectiles were intercepted and projectiles were identified in the area, the IDF said.

The IDF did not report any injuries. The extent of the damage is not clear.

The attack came a day after Deputy Secretary-General Hezbollah Naim Qassem called on Israel to accept a ceasefire in Lebanon or face a "pain" when the group changed its strategy to attack harder and deeper into Israel.

Israel opposes a unilateral ceasefire in its war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
